CRIM at the SAAs 2025

April 27, 2025 - the Center for the Recovery and Identification of the Missing (CRIM) at UIC led a session at the Society for American Archaeology Annual Meeting in Denver, CO.

The session, "Material Aspects of Global Conflict", featured 10 presentations authored by CRIM researchers and associates.

Session Abstract:

Anthropological approaches to global conflict require long-term, multi-scalar, and multi-disciplinary research of affect communities.  This is because the communities impacted by global conflict are not only affected by the combat itself, but also by the massive influx of material goods that change many aspects of culture, from the local distribution of power to foodways.  The papers in this session examine global conflicts ranging from colonial expansion in North America to the Vietnam War, contributing to the study of global conflict using archaeological, biorachaeological, and historical methods.

Session Chairs: Andrew Kracinski, Jessica Bishop, and William Feltz
